Second Thoughts : THE HEROES
Nick plays Thiago Piera, a migrant worker and informal entrepreneur whose love of 1980s action movies fuels his enthusiastic approach to the crew's missions and monsters.
- Thiago fears being perceived as ordinary, but as The Mundane, he’s excellent at helping others and finding clues while exposing himself to risk.
- Thiago’s internal theme song is the Airwolf theme.
- Thiago’s celebrity crushes are Mel Gibson and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
- Thiago’s beloved car was recently sacrificed to help kill the Highren in the Spit Pit. Then his beloved van to the Vanpire. Then a random car to the Gorgonzolla.
- Thiago’s currently crashing at LazerSplash, the abandoned downtown fun park offered to the crew by Ford Adumbrate.
- Thiago has just taken hold of a small Nonlog. With its love of grains and flame, it may be an Ovinnik, a slavic fire-starting spirit. Thiago calls it "Pequeno Mon."
👨🌾
As a purveyor of off-brand energy drinks, Thiago's number one customer was young
Hugh Carter, a dirt-biking bravo at the Spit Pit. After being hospitalized by the Highren, Hugh has become exceedingly chilled out.
🤨
Thiago bartered this "Pequeno Mon" nonlog off
Samanya Hirst, a sketchy manager of Stewart's Dollar Tree. Thiago planted bad merch at the rival Dollar General, but he's put off his promise to narc.
🏊
Thiago has developed a bit of a one-sided rivalry with
Brett Slapp, Ace Swimmer, a hot-headed but malleable teen at Honeywine High. Protective of his friend Valdez Queensbury, defensive of his Hyundai Elantra drift skills, calls his grandma. Has very suddenly seen a whole lot of the crew's monster business.
🔴
"Pequeno Mon," the fire-starting possible-Ovinnik, is a bit of a mystery. It loves grain dust, might have started a few fatal fires, and has been handled by Thiago like a grenade-type pokemon. After Thiago tossed it at the Vanpire, which crushed it into statue-remission, Clarice is holding onto P.M. in secret while Thiago thinks the worst.
Bonnie plays Alistair Edwin Pennington Kingsburgy, an adult trust fund kid who looks a bit like the Tenth Doctor with a rumpled, conspiratorial flair.
- As The Flake, Alistair’s sharp mind makes connections in advance, detects lies, and can call upon a crew of Net Friends to help solve mysteries.
- Clarice is one of those mutual Net Friends, but they haven’t identified each other IRL yet.
- Alistair fears getting caught by "the conspiracy," a fear that has intensified as different actual conspiracies multiply in front of the crew.
- Alistair’s celebrity crush is Emily Blunt, for her classy toughness.
- Allistar’s mental theme music is Queen - Don't Stop Me Now.
- Recently, Alistair’s estate and the bulk of his wealth have been yanked away under extremely suspicious circumstances -- he’s bunking with Grey at the moment.
- Alistair considers Grey one of his resources, has cleared Thiago of being weird, and generally started to trust the crew more.
🌑
From the get-go, from the back of the escape van, Alistair questioned
Emma Nascent, who sprung the crew from jail and charged them with destroying the monsters that afflict Stewart and Hubcane. The physical person turned out to be Sandy, an unwitting acting major at local community college, fed a script from freelancing app ActRabbit.
🌒
Alistair led the investigation of
Ford Adumbrate, their handler in the anti-monster organization that sprung them from jail. Turns out, he's a librarian with the real name Franklin Roy, and his house is exceptionally devoid of nonlog activity. For the holidays, Ford gave the crew $2499.99 apiece, which was his entire seasonal pay. The crew doesn't know that last bit, let's see long it takes them to notice this.
🧐
At the Queensbury party, Alistair hobnobbed with
Marcia Lobo, rising money with ownership in Anthropologie, a McDonalds, a Jamba Juice, a Soul Cyle franchise, and more! Isn't that
thrilling?
Diana plays Clarice, a legitimately cool teen who’s been into bands and coffee and knives and strange places for a long time. Even with her demonstrated concern for others, Clarice seems dangerous.
- As The Spooky, Clarice tunes into dark forces that can connect her to nonlogs, “see” the motions of ineffable forces, and bend reality in destructive ways.
- Living and fighting with sound, Clarice fears silence. For now, she’s had the finger on the volume.
- Clarice’s celebrity crushes are Leonardo Dicaprio and Morrissey.
- Clarice’s theme song is Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Red Right Hand
- After months of fighting monsters together, Clarice just correlated Alistair with a heavy-posting on the Net Friends community they share-- no idea what she's done with this yet.
- Clarice has made connections with several of the Honeywine High students that have been saved by our heroes: Heather Frandsen, Jane Peck, and Valdez Queensbury.
- Clarice has started to apply her powers of perception more keenly, seeing nonlogical activity with far more frequency than before.
🌱
Heather Frandsen was the first person the crew helped, her older brother having disappeared (into a mulch pile via pesticide pixies, unfortunately). Heather had called out via The Sequence, a viral pattern spread across social media for vigilante help against monsters.
👭
Heather introduced Clarice to fellow Honeywine High student Francine Orleans, fearful of the escalating danger of going alone in school at night. The crew uncovered a doppleganger attempt on
Valdez Queensbury, swimmer and scion of the prominent Queensbury Concern.
👩💼
Valdez might have reason to suspect the crew was involved in thwarting the Papier-machapeshifter's attack on her mother,
Juneau Queensbury, who leads the Queensbury Concern's ongoing expansions.
Zerek plays Grey Falchion, a former mechanic turned into a knife-wielding cannonball of a man since his wife and child were killed by a banshee. He’s leaned into hunting other monsters, and looks for the chance that this crew will bring him closer to his hated foes.
- As The Wronged, Grey is exceptionally capable of carving a path with his signature bowie knife, and protecting others with his preparedness and armor.
- Recent events have stirred up grievous forces inside Grey, and he’s found himself doing acts beyond the natural.
- Grey's remaining fears are unknown even to him.
- Grey’s celebrity crush is Sigourney Weaver, particularly Ripley.
- Gray’s internal theme music is The Mario Theme Song. It is unknown whether anybody else in the crew is aware.
😎
Grey met
Linette Breivik running some sort of bodyguard duty for the Queensbury party. Grey senses that she’s run into plenty of nonlogs before.
🐍
Terry Clearwater brandished a muzzled "Gorgonzolla" nonlog at the Nurthtowne Mall in self-proclaimed celebration of his open carry rights, before conflict with the gang spiraled the creature into a Terry-eating Gorgonzilla. Prior, Terry hinted to Grey of like-minded pals.
